What does it look like to address poverty not as a single problem, but as a set of interconnected barriers that people experience throughout their lives?

Mission: St. Louis is putting that idea into practice.

Based in St. Louis, Missouri, the organization works alongside individuals and families on their pathway toward self-sufficiency, with a mission to create social and economic growth through relationship and opportunity. Rather than focusing on one intervention, Mission: St. Louis brings together programs spanning education, workforce development, housing and crime reduction.

Through initiatives such as Beyond Jobs, participants receive job readiness and skills training alongside the practical supports that can make employment sustainable—from transportation assistance and life-skills development to help with rent and utilities. Beyond School supports young people academically and personally, while home repair programs help residents remain safely in their homes. Beyond Justice and Show Me Peace extend that work into community safety, violence intervention and support for people navigating the justice system.

The reach is significant. In 2025 alone, Mission: St. Louis reported serving 1,923 people directly, providing 65,373 resources and services across its programs.

But perhaps what stands out most is the philosophy underneath those numbers: meaningful change starts with relationship. By walking alongside people and connecting opportunities and supports that are too often fragmented, Mission: St. Louis is helping create pathways toward greater stability, mobility and opportunity—for individuals, families and the broader St. Louis community.
